Our Staff

Executive Director

Thuy Bui, CSAT is creator and Executive Director of Life Design Centre. Her inspiration for creating Life Design Centre is helping people discover their authentic self with purpose, meaning and beauty. Her vision was to develop an uncoventional and innovative psychotherapy studio in order to communicate principles that help inspire people to expand their individual potential, move towards wholeness and connect with others.  

Thuy is a licensed mental health professional and certified sex addiction and trauma specialist with extensive experience working with families, children, couples and individuals with relationship and sexual issues. Thuy is passionate about furthering the development of the field of sex addiction studies, and is interested in exploring the intersection of mindfulness, sexuality, and interpersonal neurobiology. She is also highly immersed in the field of depth psychology with an emphasis in Archetypal and Jungian psychotherapy. Thuy is one of the few Hakomi trained psychotherapists in Southern California, is EMDR certified and an expert equine therapist. She studies extensively with Daniel Siegel, M.D. and Katie Sanford, M.A.


Clinical Director

Mark D. Forman, Ph.D.  is the Clinical Director of Life Design Centre and a licensed clinical psychologist. Mark has worked extensively with adults, adolescents, families, and couples over the past decade, and has developed notable specializations in couples therapy, in the treatment of depression, and in working with spiritual concerns in therapy. Mark is one of the leading experts in the emerging field of Integral Psychotherapy and is one of the few practicing Integral Psychotherapists in California. His text on the subject – A Guide to Integral Psychotherapy: Complexity, Integration, and Spirituality in Practice – was published in 2010 by SUNY Press. Mark is also currently co-editing a text on diversity issues, entitled Integral Approaches to Diversity Dynamics: Exploring the Maturation of Diversity Theory and Practice. It will be published in 2014.

Mark is a long-term practitioner of both yoga and mediation, having practiced for the past two decades under several prominent teachers, including Joe Sousa and Kenneth Folk. He has also studied dream work and analysis under Jeremy Taylor, D.Min., trauma therapy under Janina Fisher, Ph.D., and spent two years in Jungian psychoanalysis with Alden Josey, Ph.D..


Consulting Psychologists

Kristina Monroe, Psy.D. is a consulting psychologist with Life Design Centre. Kristina is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY24929) who specializes in working with adults who are experiencing a variety of emotional, behavioral, and/or interpersonal difficulties. She has extensive training in working with individuals who are experiencing acute phases of mental illness. She is experienced in implementing empirically-validated interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She also understands that each individual is unique; as such, she tailors her therapeutic approach to best meet each client’s goals.

Kristina provides a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative environment that fosters change and growth. Her style is supportive, yet active. Susan Hammoudeh, Psy.D. is a consulting psychologist with Life Design Centre. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and a graduate of the Adler School of Professional Psychology. Her theoretical orientation is psychoanalytic and client-centered, as she incorporates the teaching and philosophies of Carl Jung and Carl Rogers in her practice. She places an emphasis on attaining insight into how our unconscious mind affects how we perceive ourselves, perceive others, and the way in which we live our lives. Thus, self-actualization is a core goal of therapy. In addition to practicing Jungian theory, she incorporates art and play therapy into her practice.

The majority of Susan’s practice has been with children, adolescents and adults struggling with trauma. She also has extensive experience and a strong passion for working with LGBT populations; helping individuals find self-acceptance and achieving positive self-worth. Research Assistants

Julie McAvoy is a graduate student at Saint Mary’s College of California pursuing a Master of Arts in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy license, and School Counseling credential. She is a member of the California Association of School Counselors and on the planning committee for the Action Research Network of the Americas. She has conducted research concerning childhood development, continuing education needs of mental health professionals, and group counseling in school settings among other topics.

Dan Main is a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern at California State University East Bay and Walnut Heights Elementary School. He received a Master’s in Counseling from Saint Mary’s College in May, 2012. Dan’s primary research interest is in the use of mindfulness as a part of group therapy to increase well-being in adolescents struggling with a variety of mental health disorders. Dan is strongly influenced by the work of Irving Yalom, Daniel Siegel, Robert Carkhuff, and Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Animal Assisted Therapy

Keiki, our canine clinician is a purebred golden retriever therapy dog. She received her basic and intermediate obedience training from Sirius Academy where she graduated with honors. She is the recipient of the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program award for having good manners and a wonderful temperament. Her theoretical orientation is “pawsitive psychology” and she works well with children of all ages. Keiki works out of our West Los Angeles office only.

Cimmerian, our equine clinician is a 16 hand chestnut thoroughbred gelding retired from years of competitive English jumping and equitation. Cimmerian is part of our equine assisted therapy program which offers children and adults with emotional and behavioral issues a safe environment in which to work through issues of fear, anxiety, self-doubt, and poor communication. Cimmerian is highly sound and extremely gentle as he works in tandem with one of our skilled therapists to help people be more in touch with themselves and their needs. Cimmerian works with you in Del Mar in an arena near the polo grounds.

Administrative Staff

Yesenia Morales, our skilled office administrator will assist you with booking therapy appointments, signing up for services that you may need or enrolling in any of our treatment programs. Yesenia is well versed in the organizational structure of Life Design Centre and can assist you with any of your logistical needs.


Eva Franco, is our expert billing and accounts manager. She handles all insurance claims or insurance questions and provides statements for your records as needed.
