Life Design Centre is pleased to offer services in psychological testing. Psychological testing is commonly utilized with adults, adolescents and children in order to lend increased objectivity to the process of clinical diagnosis and clarified understanding of mental health. In addition, psychological testing can provide invaluable information about individual areas of cognitive strength, cognitive challenge, and insight into personality style. The results of testing are provided to clients in a supportive and nurturing environment along with clear recommendations for change and intervention. This information can aid in making informed decisions concerning therapeutic treatment, occupational choice, and educational choice.
Selected Tests Administered by Life Design Centre
Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) is a short, multiple choice inventory that is one of the most commonly used instruments for measuring the severity of depression.
Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) assesses anxious/withdrawn, anxious/depressed, somatic complaints, anxiety/depression, thought problems, attention problems, aggression, and delinquent behavior. It also addresses child competencies in terms of activities, social, and school domains.
Connors 3rd Edition Parent and Teacher (CRS-R) is an assessment tool designed to obtain observations about the youth’s behavior. This instrument is designed to assess Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and its most common co-morbid problems.
Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-2) is a personality inventory assess the psychological functioning of adults in clinical areas, and provides supplementary and validity information about numerous personality tendencies.
Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-A) is a personality inventory assess the psychological functioning of adolescents in clinical areas, and provides supplementary and validity information about numerous personality tendencies.
Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality assessment often utilized to support increased self-understanding as well as to aid in occupational choice. It assesses persons based on categories including introversion vs. extroversion and thinking vs feeling.
Projective Drawings such as House-Tree-Person (HTP) and Kinetic Family Drawing (KFD) are administered to children and interpreted in order to assess self-image and relationships to family members.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Inventory (PTSI) assesses the emotional, physical, and sexual abuse scales dealing with childhood occurrences as well as a list of Axis I and Axis II. This assessment is a valuable tool for treating patients with past or present trauma issues.

Roberts Apperception Test 2 for Children (RATC-2) is administered to children to assess how they relates to others and how they identify and solve problems. The RATC-2 also measures aggression, anxiety, depression, concerns about social and family rejection, and coping resources.
Rorschach is a commonly used projective psychological test that is used to determine how a person perceives, interpret, and respond to emotions as well as the quality of self-perceptions and response to stimuli.
Sexual Dependency Inventory (SDI) is an invaluable test that can help to diagnose the etiology and assess the range and scope of problematic sexual behavior and help patients understand their arousal templates. The SDI gathers information on various aspects of sexually problematic sexual behaviors including patterns of consequences, evolution of behavior, and therapeutic readiness.

Strong Interest Inventory (SII) attempts to describe a person’s interests in various kinds of work and work activities. The SII does not measure ability, only interest levels.
Stanford-Binet Intelligence Test is a standardized test that assesses IQ and cognitive abilities in children and adults age two to 23. It is often administered in order to assess for cognitive
giftedness.
Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA) is an objective neuropsychological test that measures a persons sustained and selective attention. It is formatted as a simple “computer game” that measures your responses to either visual or auditory stimuli.
Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) is an individually administered intelligence test used to measure adult and adolescent intelligence. It assesses verbal, nonverbal, as well overall
general cognitive ability (IQ)
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) is an individually administered intelligence test for children between the ages of 6 and 16 that can be completed without reading or writing. It assesses verbal, nonverbal, as well overall general cognitive ability (IQ).
